My Custom Process

I developed a unique process to guide groups through the interior design process. Clients experience a series of visioning exercises aimed at determining the aesthetic goals of their project. This process builds consensus around the important questions of:
What is the mood/spirit of your project?
How do you want your occupants to feel while they are in the space?
How does the built environment reflect your organization's mission and values?
My process also provides the opportunity for us to collaborate and have some fun as we design an exceptional space based on the unique needs of you, your organization and your end users.

Visioning Session

Groups can be led through a series of exercises to determine the aesthetic goals of your project. Building consensus and design direction is a critical first step.

Finish and Material Selections

Development of material and color palettes that are beautiful, cohesive and personal to your mission. Selection of floor, wall and ceiling finishes that adhere to local building codes, ADA and budget constraints.

Facility Interior Master Plans

An interiors master plan for materials, colors and furniture can be extremely valuable to an organization's facility team. It can serve as a "guide" for routine maintenance and provide the basis of design during a larger renovation.

Programming and Fit Plans

Programming, space planning and furniture plans can help determine the appropriate size of spaces and assist the end user in visualizing the space.

Furniture Selection and Procurement

Selection of furniture that addresses ergonomics, evidence-based design factors, facility standards and purchasing agreements. Coordination with furniture vendors on schedule, phasing and installation is an important task near a project's completion.

Artwork Selection and Coordination

Evidence-based design suggests appropriate artwork can impact a viewer. Artwork does not need to break the budget; budget-friendly reproductions can enhance the visitor experience while original artwork in select areas can provide positive first impressions.

Interior Architecture

Development of the 3-dimensional space and coordination with architectural and engineering team on space planning, millwork design, lighting solutions and other interior elements.

Susan Clark, CID, CHID

I am a NYS Certified Interior Designer with over 25 years of interior design experience. Not many people can say after that many years that they still love doing what they do, but I wholeheartedly can.

I received a Bachelor of Science in Design and Environmental Analysis from Cornell University and have been enjoying creating meaningful spaces ever since. I have been involved in the design of hospitals, schools, long term care facilities, churches, clinics, offices, prisons and municipal buildings. Each area of design has helped me to appreciate that each project and client is unique in their needs.

I have additional expertise in the field of healthcare design. With a true passion for designing healing environments, I obtained my Certification in Healthcare Interior Design.  I am a current member of the American Academy of Healthcare Interior Designers, which allows me to better serve my clients with the experience and knowledge that is critical in healthcare design.

Susan Clark Design is proud to be a Certified Woman-Owned Business.

I am confident that my passion for design and experience will provide the right design solutions to help your organization thrive.
